Event Description:This exhibition features eighteen projects by Ingrid Lilligren. Her art incorporates Braille text to explore social, cultural, and political blindness. Using this visual language can give sighted viewers the experience of being temporarily “othered”. Several works have words in Braille carved into or embossed onto the forms, and some use tiles or pegs to spell out the statement. Her subjects range from concepts about beauty, to meditations on climate change. Poems by Debra Marquart, Distinguished Professor in Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University, and outgoing Poet Laureate of Iowa, are used in three pieces. Exhibition open during regular Museum hours: Tu-Fri: 11-6 PM (Thursdays open until 8:00PM) Saturday & Sunday: 1-5 PM Closed Mondays |
