Event Description:Grinnell College Museum of Art and Drake Library are offering free hands-on art and literacy activities for children and families in area parks. Every session will offer drawing, 2- and 3-D collage projects, beading, truck glittering, painting, bookmaking, type-a-thon, and reading activities. Additionally, a special project from the following: ceramics, printmaking, marbling, sewing, wood cutouts, tie-dye or another activity will be offered at each session. No registration is necessary. Lunch will be served by the Iowa Kitchen at 11:45 on Tuesdays. 40 meals served on a first-come first-served basis. Middleway Farms will have free produce and MICA will have food items to take home as well. This program is supported by the Greater Poweshiek County Community Foundation/Poweshiek County Alliance, Grinnell Farm to Table, Grinnell Mutual, AmeriCorps, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and the Grinnell Education Partnership. In case of threatening weather, Storytime Art in the Park will be canceled. Cancelations will be announced on KGRN 1410 AM and on Grinnell College Museum of Art’s Facebook page prior to the start of the session.
