Event Description:Join the WIL-210 course for 2 guest speakers! All are welcome at 2:30PM in the HSSC N1112! Alexi Zentner ’91 (political science, GWS) Alexi Zentner is the author of the novels Copperhead, The Lobster Kings, and Touch; under the pseudonym Ezekiel Boone, he also authored the internationally bestselling The Hatching trilogy, which includes the books The Hatching, Skitter and Zero Day, as well as The Mansion. He has two additional novels forthcoming. Zentner’s short fiction, journalism and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Toronto Globe & Mail, The Atlantic, Tin House, Glimmer Train, The Southern Review, Guernica, PEN America and many other publications. His writing has been published in more than 16 countries and a dozen languages and has won or been shortlisted for numerous prizes. As a screenwriter, he is also a member of the WGA and has several projects under development for the screen. He is a Professor of English and Creative Writing and the Director of Graduate Studies in English at Binghamton University. Also, Alexi is featured Thursday 10/31 during the Writers@Grinnell event at 4:15pm in JRC 101. Rob Neill ’91 (philosophy, REES) Rob is the Co-Artistic Director and founding member of the New York Neo-Futurists. He is a New York-based writer, performer, theater maker, and educator whose work includes avant-garde theatre, storytelling, traditional Broadway roles, and creativity classes. His original plays have been performed at several theaters, including The Ontological Theatre, P.S., The Public, Cherry Lane and HERE. As an actor, he has performed in Broadway shows (“London Assurance,” “Peter and the Starcatcher”), in London (“The Cherry Orchard”), regionally (“You Never Can Tell,” “Tartuffe”) and at the Edinburgh Festival. He studied at Grinnell College, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the National Theater Institute, and has worked on a variety of independent films and commercials. |
