Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational series designed to provide the tools you need to take care of yourself while also caring for a loved on at home or in a care facility. As a participant, you will learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, increase your ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources.

Classes are led by a pair of certified class leaders for two primary audiences:

• Caregivers of adults with chronic conditions (offered as six 90-minute workshops)
• Caregivers of children with special health and behavioral needs (offered as six 2-hour workshops)

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is sponsoring Powerful Tools for Caregivers in Grinnell this Spring. Local supporters include Seeland Park, and the Poweshiek County Extension Office. Classes consist of six 90-minute sessions held once a week. Two experienced leaders conduct each class. Interactive lessons, discussions, and brainstorming help you take the “tools” you choose and put them into action for your life.

Sessions are scheduled every Friday for six weeks and begin on April 4. Classes will be held at Seeland Park from 1:00 – 2:30. There is no fee for the program for the first 8 participants. For more information or to register, contact Karie Foster at karief@iastate.edu or 641-660-2725.
