The Executive Director of Operations reports to the Rural President and serves as a Senior Leader of the UPH-Grinnell team. This position is responsible for the overall management, development and planning of the operations in direct oversight for Facilities Management, Environmental Services, Therapy Services, Imaging Services, Fitness Center and Contracted Services. In addition, provides direct oversight for the following matrixed reporting: Health Information Management, Laboratory, Public Safety, Supply Chain and Pharmacy. The Executive Director of Operations will establish credibility as a strategic and operationally astute team builder who can develop high performing managers that will drive quality, customer service, market share and financial performance.

Responsibilities
Clinic Leadership:
- Leads the ongoing development and enhancement of clinic operations
- Demonstrate knowledge of physician and staff benefits including communication with physicians and staff related to benefits
- Demonstrate knowledge of physician compensation plan including communication with physicians related to individual physician compensation.
- Lead the recruitment and retention efforts with the CEO
Finance Leadership:
- Oversees, directs, and organizes the work of the finance team
- Ability to direct the preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives.
- Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the CEO.
- Leads the development of the hospital’s annual operating and capital budgets as well as monitoring progress toward specifically established objectives
Operational Leadership:
- Operational oversight of supporting ancillary services lines including; therapy, radiology, laboratory, nutrition services and sleep lab.
Business Development Leadership:
- Build and maintain critical external relationships with local employers, private practices, associations, professional societies, and organizations.
- Research and analyze target markets to develop strategic and tactical plans to grow the business.
- Analyzes current market position, capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, and identifies future opportunities for growth and development in the core, regional and referral market for each clinical service line.
- Manage several small to large scale integration projects simultaneously.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria :
- Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
- Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.
- Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
