Description

This is a Post-Baccalaureate fellowship, 10-week, full-time position. The rate of pay is $18 per hour.

The post-baccalaureate researcher will analyze data from state-of-the-art astronomical simulations to investigate the assembly history of low-mass galaxies. Responsibilities include processing and visualizing simulation outputs, generating databases for use by others, synthesizing relevant scientific literature, and documenting their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and test code to analyze simulated data
  • Work with faculty and student collaborators
  • Document process and results
  • Synthesize astronomy literature and make connections to on-going research

Requirements

Selected candidate must successfully pass a background check prior to first day of employment. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • Less than six months work experience
  • Grinnell College graduates will be considered first
  • Excellent time-management and task-prioritization skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently and also as a member of a team
  • Organizational, planning, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with programming and scientific data analysis
  • Champions diversity, equity and inclusion.
